Celebrating Canada Day at Ireland's Only Canada Day Party... we think.
Canada Day at Falvey’s is always a special occasion, but this year’s party was one to remember.
We were delighted to welcome visitors from near and far, including guests from Nova Scotia, Halifax, Saskatchewan, Calgary, Vancouver and even Vancouver Island. It was fantastic to see so many Canadians, locals and visitors coming together to celebrate, some of them travelled from Roscommon and Mayo to share stories and enjoy a little taste of Ireland’s Only Canada Day Party here at Falvey’s.
Canadian snacks and drinks were a big part of the day, as always. Our neighbours at Gabi’s treated everyone to their fabulous doughnuts and delicious maple bacon pancake rolls, which went down a storm. We “dressed up” the doughnuts in Timbit’s boxes which were supplied by my dad who is a daily Timmy’s customer back home in Vancouver. We were also lucky to have some of my own family visiting for the celebrations, and my mom made her world-famous Nanaimo bars. Needless to say, they did not last long!
Our games area was bigger and better this year, with tabletop curling, hockey and air hockey all added to the fun. There was plenty of friendly competition throughout the day, with guests of all ages getting involved. Val was the winner of our hockey competition slotting a puck into each whole in just 23.5 seconds!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Canada Day celebration would be complete without a some Canadian beer and of course, Caesars! Moosehead beer available behind the bar, and a few brave “non Canadian’s” braved their first Caesar!
With all the red and white decorations around the bar, a few people may have thought we were cheering for Tyrone. However, it was actually Kerry’s day in the All-Ireland quarter-final, the match added to the craic in the bar on the day, and it was great to see Kerry get the win!
The atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces alongside visitors joining us for the first time. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support Ireland’s Only Canada Day Party at Falvey’s. Your energy, enthusiasm and good humour made the celebration what it was, and we are already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
