There’s something quietly magical about an evening spent in candlelight, its the perfect time to sing a few tunes and swap some stories. That’s the vibe at our Candlelight Singing Sessions.
Whether your a seasoned singer or you have only ever sang in the shower, this is the place to sing that song you have always wanted to sign in a relaxed environment. Mike Dowd will be there to accompany you on the piano and trust us when we say there are very few tunes he doesn’t know!
FAQ's about our Candlelight Singing Session
When: Our Candlelight Singing Session’s happen on special Thursday’s that coincide with holidays or major events happening in and around Killorglin. We always post on our Facebook and Instagram about the dates but you can also check out the date for the next singing session here on our events page.
Time: Sessions start around 8:30 pm and go until about 10:30pm.
Location: The sessions happen in intimate setting in the back room in Falvey’s.
Who shows up: A mix of locals, regulars, visitors to the town – some sing, others lend an ear. However its important to remember that if everyone is “just there to listen” there will be no one to listen too. We always love to have new singers so don’t be afraid to give us a few bars of your favourite tune.
What should I sing?: There is often a full mix of music styles, we have had everything from Amy Winehouse, traditional Irish music, Disney songs, Queen and so much more.
I have never sang in public before, is that ok? That’s perfect! If you’ve never sung publicly before, this is a low-stakes place to try it. There will be a small audience and great accompaniment and encouragement from Mike Dowd, its a very safe place to give singing a whirl.
