West Kerry Brewing: A Taste of Tradition and Innovation on the Dingle Penisula

Nestled in the rugged beauty of the Dingle Peninsula, West Kerry Brewing stands as a testament to the rich brewing heritage and vibrant innovation of County Kerry. Founded in 2008 in the small village of Ballyferriter, this microbrewery has quickly gained a reputation for crafting exceptional beers that capture the essence of the local landscape and culture.

A Dream Brewed in Ballyferriter

West Kerry Brewing was the brainchild of Adrienne Heslin, who envisioned creating a brewery that would produce high-quality, artisanal beers using locally sourced ingredients. Inspired by the stunning natural beauty of the Dingle Peninsula and the area’s deep-rooted traditions, Adrienne set out to create a unique brewing experience that would reflect the character of West Kerry.

The brewery is located in Tig Bhric, a traditional Irish pub that has been serving the local community for generations. This historic setting provides the perfect backdrop for West Kerry Brewing, blending the old-world charm of a traditional pub with the innovative spirit of a modern microbrewery.

A Range of Exceptional Beers

West Kerry Brewing offers a diverse range of beers, we carry a few of their brilliant products. On draught we have their Beoir Rua (Irish for Red Beer) with great malty flavour this beer is a must try. In the bottle we change our offering seasonally but a few brews we have featured are one of their flagship beers, Carraig Dubh, is a rich and robust stout, that boasts notes of chocolate and coffee, balanced by a subtle bitterness. Another standout is the Béal Bán, a golden ale featuring hints of citrus and floral notes. Blue Rose is an Irish Pale Ale with a light and refreshing mouthfeel and a long lingering citrusy finish for the dry hopping with American Cascade.

Visiting West Kerry Brewing

A visit to West Kerry Brewing is a must for any beer enthusiast or traveler exploring the Dingle Peninsula. The brewery is a little over an hour away from Killorglin, it is well worth the trip as the Dingle Peninsula offers stunning views. The brewery offers guided tours, where visitors can learn about the brewing process, the history of the brewery, and the unique ingredients used in their beers. The tours often conclude with a tasting session in the brewery’s fabulous on site put Tig Bhric.
